The objective of the group was to create a product that would promote water sustainability during use. A focus on child education was suggested earlier on by myself as a method both to raise awareness and also find a relatable project for this diverse group. This focus on child development allowed us to hone in on the direct causes of neglect for sustainability education with children. We used the playful appeal of water to children as the backbone of our project, creating a 3 dimensional game that taught them the value of water through restriction and sharing.
How to play:
To start off all the players have an equal amount of water in their spray bottles. Player 1 spins the dial to progress. If player 1 spins a number they progress by that many squares. If they spin natural disaster they draw a natural disaster card. If they spin charity then they must give X amount of water to the world water well. If player 1 lands on a country they may buy the rights to sell water in that country using X portion of their water. If player 2 lands on player 1’s country they must sell their water to player 1.
Second phase of the game:
After all the land has been distributed and bought players may combat over distributing rights in each others country. If player 1 lands on player 2s land they must first pay the water fee. Secondly they can spin the dial to battle over the right for land. If they spin a higher number they gain ownership. If they roll a lower number they must forfeit their land to the game.
