A sculptural approach to a machining project. The bullet presented here is a perfectly sized replica of a DU-30 mm PGU-14/B bullet that was used excessively in the gulf war and is still used in the “war against terror”. Side affects have been increased cases of cancer and mutation throughout the gulf due to the radioactive depleted uranium. These rounds break many human rights violations and are used against civilians, shattering on impact and imbedding shrapnel in the skin.
The Brass Minaret was a proposal for the housing of the bullet as a protestation to the degradation of Islam in the West. It was directly targeted towards the negativity of anti secular European countries towards mosques as a symbol of oppression, and the propagandistic posters suggesting minarets are shaped like rockets.
The Minaret Made of brass ages beautifully and shows true grace while the bullet making up its internal structure remains a symbol of corruption and remains unchanged and destructive in the same way as the depleted uranium that it contains.
